The Shape Builder Tool can interactively extract, unite or intersect regions of partially overlapping shapes.
Using the Shape Builder tool, areas of intersecting shapes can be extracted as new shapes, removed from the original, or integrated into the original. Hmmm, sounds a bit complex?
In simple words: think of yourself as a sculptor, uncovering brand-new shapes at the core of intersecting paths, by erasing or combining these paths. But it's even simpler if you watch the tutorial.
